The group from Wycombe  consisted of 15 members.

They were met at Frankfurt Airport by Councillor Hasler and Dr. Beate Matuschek and taken to Eltville in the Rheingau area. They were given a guided tour of the historic part of the town. Eltville is the home of sparkling Riesling wine and is also well known for the cultivation of roses, being granted the title of Rosenstadt (Rose City) in 1988. The evening was spent with their hosts.

On Saturday they were taken to Hanau, the home of the Brothers Grimm of Fairy Tale fame where there was a guided tour of Phillipsruhe Palace, which was the home of the Counts of Hessen-Rumpenheim.

The Palace is now a museum, a wedding venue and much more. It also houses a museum devoted to the Brothers Grimm. They had a buffet lunch on the Palace balcony. It was a most interesting and informative day.

In the evening was the joint dinner at Merlin’s Restaurant in Ruppertshein. A most pleasant evening with a good opportunity to talk to our Kelkheim friends. The Mayor, Thomas Horn, attended and presents between Kelkheim and High Wycombe exchanged.

On Sunday they were given a tour of the Romer area of Frankfurt followed by a traditional meal at a Cider House before the flight home.

This year’s summit meeting between High Wycombe and Kelkheim took place on Saturday 10th March.

The Kelkeim delegation consisted of Cllr. Wolf-Dieter Hasler, Dr. Beate Matuschek and Peter Hillebrecht.
