High Wycombe is situated in the Chiltern Hills, in Buckinghamshire. It is 29 miles from London and almost an equal distance from Oxford.

Wycombe is a combination of industrial and market town, with a traditional emphasis on furniture production. There are markets held on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, the Friday market being a Charter Market since 1237.

The river Wye runs through the town although for much of its length the river is carried in culverts under the town.
