High Wycombe Town Twinning Association

Our Linked Towns
High Wycombe is also proudly linked with two towns with a special connection to us, they are Mirpur, in Azad Kashmir, and Kingstown, in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. There are further proposals to link the town with Zhytomyr, in Ukraine - recognising the Eastern European growth in the town and the solidarity with the Ukrainian People. Linking has no budgetary or political requirements, and is driven through soldiarity between the people of High Wycombe and the linked cities.

Mirpur, Azad Kashmir
In the 1970s, Asian families of mainly Pakistani origin found a home within High Wycombe, many tracing their roots from Mirpur, in Azad Kashmir. With strong links back to their homeland, and a proud civic engagement in the Town, High Wycombe pursued a link with the city and Mayors have featured in visits back to the city too.
Kingstown, St. Vincent and the Grenadines
High Wycombe is proud to host one of the largest Vincentian diasporas who emigrated from the Carribean in the 1950s and 60s as part of the Windrush Generation. Today, this partnership is celebrated by SV2G and our link with Kingstown, the capital of the county helps to cement this link.

Zhytomyr, Ukraine
In the 2000s, High Wycombe introduced new families from Eastern Europe as their integration in the EU started. Chief amongst these were Poland, Romania, and the Baltics. In the 2020s this was accompanied by refugee families from Ukraine, joining a small Ukrainian diaspora that already existed. Proposals are underway to link High Wycombe with Zhytomyr in Ukraine, a major hub in the West of the Country and home to the country's historic Polish population.
